Who they are
Method is customizable business automation software for growing businesses that run on QuickBooks or Xero. It automates the everyday work across sales, operations and finance, from quote to job to invoice to payment, with two-way sync to QuickBooks.
Method's customers take payments inside Method, by card or by bank (ACH), including charges to a card or bank account saved for a repeat customer. Method records each payment and syncs it to QuickBooks or Xero.
The problem
Method's customers don't share one payment provider. Many arrive with their own merchant account and provider, and expect to keep them.
Before Shuttle, Method built a separate integration for each payment provider:
- Every new provider was another build, at considerable development cost
- On top of the cost, each one brought its own headaches
- It was limiting in a fast-changing online payments market
- Method's own team demos and supports these payment workflows, so they had to be simple to show and simple to fix
It has allowed us to match our customers with the payment providers they request and the list of available providers and payment methods is always growing!
What Shuttle does
Method integrated Shuttle once. Through that integration, a Method merchant can connect any compatible payment provider, from the more than 40 that Shuttle supports.
- One integration, many providers. Through Shuttle, Method merchants take payments on providers including Authorize.Net, USAePay and QuickBooks Payments.
- The merchant's own account. Payments go to the merchant's own account with their provider. Shuttle doesn't hold the funds, and the provider's own rates don't change.
- Cards and ACH, with saved payment methods. A saved card or bank account stays with the merchant's provider, ready to charge again.
- Card data kept away from Method. Card details are entered on Shuttle's payment form inside Method and passed to the merchant's provider. They never reach Method, and Shuttle doesn't store them, so Method's PCI scope is heavily reduced.
- The list keeps growing. At Method's request, Shuttle added ACH to its USAePay integration.
- Support in a shared channel. Method's team raises an issue and Shuttle's support team traces it through the logs and the provider's own response.
The result
For Method: No new build each time a customer asks for a provider Shuttle supports; able to match customers with the payment providers they ask for; payment workflows that are easy to demo and support; a support team Method describes as prompt and proactive.
For Method's merchants: They can keep a payment provider they already use, on that provider's own rates; take card and ACH payments inside Method, with each payment synced to QuickBooks or Xero by Method; charge a saved payment method for repeat customers.
For the people paying: Pay by card or bank in the checkout.
