The Problem
Collecting payments over the phone means handling sensitive card data, managing PCI compliance, and building custom integrations for every gateway.
Most businesses either accept the risk or avoid phone payments entirely.
How Voice Checkout Works
Three Steps
- 1
Customer calls your business
A customer reaches your IVR system, speaks with a live agent, or interacts with an AI agent. When it's time to pay, Shuttle joins the call for the secure capture segment only.
- 2
Shuttle captures payment securely
The customer enters card details via keypad (DTMF) — tones are stripped from the audio so the agent never hears them. Alternatively, a payment link is sent via SMS or email with support for digital wallets.
- 3
Payment is processed through your gateway
Shuttle routes the transaction to your chosen payment gateway, tokenises the card for future use, or authorises for later capture. Only redacted details are returned — your systems never see sensitive data.
Out-of-the-Box Feature Set
Features
Pre-Built Checkout
Out-of-the-box checkout, gateway connector, and payments UI — ready to integrate with your voice flows.
IVR Compatible
Works with automated IVR systems and agent-assisted calls. Capture payments via DTMF keypad or voice input.
No Card Data Recorded
Card details never touch your infrastructure. Shuttle tokenizes payment data so you stay out of PCI scope.
SMS Payment Links
When phone payment isn't possible, send a secure payment link via SMS for the customer to complete on their device.
16+ Payment Gateways
Connect your preferred payment stack. Support for Stripe, Worldpay, Adyen, Checkout.com, and more with multi-gateway configuration.
Real-Time Activity
View payment activity, apply full or partial refunds, and manage multiple payment profiles from a single dashboard.
Tokenize & Reuse
Tokenize payment methods during a call and authorize card details for use across any channel — web, mobile, or voice.
Smart Checkout Profiles
Run multiple payment profiles with different gateway configurations. Smart checkout routes transactions based on your rules.
No Setup Fees
Direct per-transaction pricing with no setup fees, no monthly minimums, and no hidden costs. Pay only for what you use.
DTMF Security
During secure card capture, DTMF tones are stripped from the audio stream so the agent never hears card details. The voice channel stays open for conversation.
Tokenise & Auth
Tokenise payment details for future use, authorise and capture later, or process immediately — supporting one-off payments, pre-auth holds, and recurring scenarios.
Multi-Region Deployment
Telephony infrastructure deployed locally in-region to reduce audio latency. Available across US, Canada, and UK with additional regions on request.
Agent Payment Interface
Real-time agent-assist UI for generating and sending payment links during live calls. Pre-populate fields, trigger payments, and track status without leaving the conversation.

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ
What is Shuttle Voice Checkout?
Shuttle Voice Checkout connects your voice and chat flows to leading payment processors like Worldpay, Checkout.com, Opayo, and Stripe, without you handling card data. Customers pay securely via keypad (DTMF), voice input, or a payment link sent via SMS.
What payment gateways are supported?
Shuttle supports 16+ gateways including Adyen, Authorize.net, CardConnect, Checkout.com, FreedomPay, Global Payments, LiqPay, Moneris, NMI, Opayo, PayPal, PaySafe, PayU, Stripe, USAePay, and Worldpay Access.
What payment methods are supported?
Cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), ACH bank transfers, and additional payment methods via branded Payment Links sent by SMS.
What are my PCI compliance obligations?
Shuttle is PCI DSS Level 1 compliant. Because card data never touches your systems, your PCI obligations are significantly reduced. You should complete SAQ-A forms for your own records.
How long does it take to set up?
A demo script allows you to be up and running within hours. Bespoke setup is typically complete within a week with one developer.
Which voice carriers are supported?
Twilio is available as a pre-built connector — Shuttle is Twilio's chosen payment partner. For other carriers, Shuttle offers a carrier-agnostic BYO Carrier option via SIP integration, with telephony infrastructure deployed in-region across US, Canada, and UK.
What's the difference between the Shuttle Connector and a Generic Connector on Twilio?
On Twilio, the Shuttle Connector is pre-built and optimised for specific processors with end-to-end payment orchestration, production-ready monitoring, and multi-merchant management. The Generic Connector is Twilio's lightweight, open connector that requires you to handle PSP integration yourself — useful for custom providers and testing.
