The Phone Payment Problem
Every time an agent hears or types a card number, your business is in PCI scope and your customer is exposed.
Taking payments over the phone shouldn't mean carrying that risk.
The Problem, and the Fix
Before & After
Without Shuttle
- Agents read out or type card numbers into your CRM
- Card data ends up in call recordings and screenshots
- Your whole contact centre sits inside PCI scope
- Customers read card numbers aloud in public
- Declined cards mean callbacks and lost revenue
With Shuttle
- Keypad Capture (DTMF) The customer enters the card on their phone; the agent never hears or sees it
- Clean Recordings Tones are stripped before they reach your systems or recordings
- Reduced PCI Scope Card data never touches your infrastructure, keeping you in SAQ-A scope
- SMS Payment Links Send a link to finish on their phone if they can't pay live
- Your Gateway, Your Rates Connect the payment processor you already use
How It Works
Three Steps
- 1
Your customer calls in
They reach your IVR or speak to a live agent. When it's time to pay, Shuttle joins the call for the secure capture segment only.
- 2
They pay securely on the call
The customer keys in their card on their phone (DTMF). The tones are stripped from the audio, so your agent and your call recordings never capture card details. Can't pay on the call? Send an SMS payment link instead.
- 3
Funds settle through your gateway
Shuttle routes the payment to your existing gateway and returns only redacted details. Your systems stay out of PCI scope.

Live Demo
The customer pays via the IVR. DTMF tones are stripped before they reach the agent or your systems.
A live agent stays on the line while the customer enters card details securely.
Everything You Need to Take Payment by Phone
Features
No Card Data on Your Systems
Card details never touch your infrastructure. Shuttle tokenises payment data with your gateway, so you stay out of PCI scope.
Agents Never Hear the Card
During secure capture, DTMF tones are stripped from the audio stream. The voice channel stays open for conversation; the card stays private.
SMS Payment Links
When paying on the call isn't possible, send a branded payment link by SMS for the customer to complete on their device.
Works With Your Gateway

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ
Do my agents ever see or hear card details?
No. The customer enters their card on their own phone keypad (DTMF). The tones are stripped from the audio before they reach your agent, your systems, or your call recordings. The agent stays on the line to help, but never handles the card.
What are my PCI compliance obligations?
Shuttle is PCI DSS Level 1 certified. Because card data never touches your systems, your PCI obligations are significantly reduced, typically to SAQ-A. You complete the SAQ-A forms for your own records.
Does it work with my current payment provider?
Yes. Shuttle connects to 25+ gateways including Stripe, Worldpay, Adyen, Checkout.com, Authorize.Net and more, so you keep your existing processor and rates. You can also run multiple gateways and route transactions by your own rules.
What if the customer can't pay during the call?
Send them a branded payment link by SMS or email. They complete the payment on their own device, on the call or after it, including with Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal.
Which phone systems does it work with?
It works with automated IVR systems and live agent-assisted calls. Today Twilio is the live carrier connector. A carrier-agnostic option via SIP integration is coming later this year.
How much does it cost?
The Twilio Pay plan is $0.20 per transaction, billed through your Twilio account, with no setup fees or monthly minimums. A full-control, any-carrier plan is priced on application, and a Team add-on is $49 per user per month for multi-user access.
How long does it take to set up?
A demo script can have you up and running within hours. A bespoke setup is typically complete within a week with one developer.
